Prologue

A prologue is the scene before the story. Nobody has said anything important yet. You’re just being shown where you are.

Where we are is dry ground. “When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none.” That’s the first line of the passage this whole project hangs on, and it’s not a happy line. It’s a person standing in a place with nothing in it, and knowing it.

I wanted the music to start there, because I think most of us are there more often than we admit. Busy, tired, and thirsty for something we can’t quite name.

PROLOGUE is the song that plays when you open this site. It’s the breath before the first chapter. It doesn’t resolve anything. It just asks you to stop for a couple of minutes and notice that you’re thirsty.

What comes next is the story of where the water is. For now, turn the sound on and stay a while.
